Battery Check
One of the first things we will do is check the battery to make sure it’s okay. If the battery is more than three years old, you run a high risk of it dying while you are traveling. As such, we recommend you have us replace the battery before you leave for your trip.
Brake Check
We will also inspect the brake system because you rely on it all the time. If the brake system looks good, we won’t do anything. If you have less than 1/4 of an inch of brake pad surface left on the brake pads, we will replace them. We will also check the brake fluid.
Diagnostic Check
We will get your permission before we run a diagnostic test, but we recommend this service in order to determine if there’s anything going on with your vehicle behind the scenes. A diagnostic test produces error codes that are reported to the main computer chip from the system sensors.
Fluid Check
A fluid check is also in order before you head out on your road trip. We want to make sure that all of the fluids are clean and topped off. In addition to checking the fluids, we will take a look at the belts and hoses to ensure none of them need to be replaced.
Oil Change
We also recommend an oil change before your road trip. The service may not be due, but clean oil and a clean oil filter can help improve your fuel efficiency while you are traveling. In addition, if you are traveling a long distance, this will prevent the need for an oil change during your trip.
Tire Check
Finally, another service that we provide during our pre-trip inspection is a tire check. We will inspect the tires to make sure they are not worn. We will also test the air pressure and add air if necessary. We will also inspect the spare to make sure it is in excellent condition.
